As a general rule, most of the valuable and prestigious license plates seen on the road today will appear on expensive and prestigious cars. This is true for most Bentley and Rolls Royce cars. Most Bentley-type exclusive registrations are in fact on Bentley automobiles rather than automobiles owned by Mr. Bentley and as such can be quite expensive.

In recent years, with the introduction of the Bentley Continental GT, more car registration numbers have been sold for Bentley than any other prestigious automaker, as much as your average car. Interestingly, Rolls Royce owners are less likely to buy private license plates, which is unusual, although again some of the more valuable license plates do indeed appear on Rolls Royce cars.

When you see a Bentley car, as a rule of thumb, most of them will have cherished license plates. Prized Bentley license plates are popular because as long as a Bentley is cared for, it should last a lifetime. So a private registration is a great way to dress up a 4- or 5-year-old Bentley to look like a brand new model. In fact, more than 70% of all Bentley cars ever built are still on the road. This is because the attention to detail is so intense. It takes 150 hours to build a Continental GT by hand and even more for a 4-door Bentley Arnarge. So it’s easy to see why people buy license plates for these cars.

There are some fairly Bentleys specific license plates recently announced for sale. They are BEN 71Y and BE11 TLY. Both plates look like the word Bentley and would look great on the back of a “GT” or “Flying Spur” model. Another large record number is RNA 46E, which would fit a Bentley Arnarge model. The only downside to these plates is the prices and age restrictions as they are neither undated nor appreciated as they are sometimes known. This means that they cannot be used on vehicles older than those shown on the license plate. So it is not good for old models.

The 1 WO registration number is probably one of the most famous personalized license plates. It is used in all of the automaker’s promotional advertising and is used in memory of Mr. WOBentley, the founder and creator of the luxury car brand, however it is not known if the plate is actually owned by the automaker or it is simply used with the permission of the actual owner.
