I know that the main objective of parents is to educate and teach their children what is right and what is wrong. The goal of all parents is for that child to succeed when the time comes to be alone. During this current economic downturn, where unemployment has risen and the cost of living has remained on its constant slope, it is very difficult for the average young person to gain their own independence from it.
It is not often that society punishes those who are high achievers, yet that is what has happened to many young adults in the last year. I have seen many empty nesting residences now filled to the ceiling with their adult children’s possessions, from gym equipment to large fish tanks. This is a tough decision for any parent to make, especially when his house was getting back to how he liked it, free of clutter.
My suggestion on organizing your home while the kids work to right the ship would be to purchase a variety of storage containment products. These products range from your basic metal storage cabinet to a giant storage cabinet. Storage cabinets come in many colors and styles, from solid to clear doors with different latch systems for privacy. Another idea is a wardrobe closet if closet space is at a premium or a combo storage closet that does a little of everything. In the long run, the cost of the cabinets is minimal compared to your sanity and you’ll be able to go back to living in your home instead of feeling like you’re in a resale store.
