Creating a vision board/map is a fun and creative activity that helps you connect with your heart’s desires and transform your dreams into reality. The process begins with dreaming, letting go of your doubting mind and entering the realm of infinite possibilities. From your dreams, you create your vision board/map and then develop goals (action steps) that will enable you to transform your dreams into reality. Your Vision Board/Map is a collage that is a visual representation of those dreams and goals. You can include images, words and quotes, maps, postcards, or any other item that represents something you want to manifest in your life. There is no right or wrong way to put together your Vision Board/Map and each one is a very personal creative symbol of the individual’s future life. The process is meant to be fun and enlightening, not something to agonize over or worry about if it’s “right.” Just go with the flow and let your creative self take the lead. The more you allow yourself to “lose yourself” in the creative process, the more meaningful the images you choose for your board will be.

I have developed a simple seven-step process to help you create a Vision Board that will create magic in your life. When you look at your board in the future, you’ll be amazed at how much (or all) you’ve made of it!

  1. You must first set an intent for your vision board. Is this a board that you will create for a very specific purpose, such as attracting a new relationship, a new job, a healthier you, greater financial abundance, or will it be a general representation of your future life? If it represents your entire future life, you’ll want to include the areas that are most important to you, such as spiritual, health, family, business/job, financial relationships. It works best if you choose four areas for a single board, but you could have up to six.
  2. Building dreams is the next step. You will write a description of the life you want or have that will be the focus of your Vision Board. You want to write this as if you are already there and experiencing what you want to manifest in your life. Include a description of how it feels to have this or live this life. The more descriptive, the better. Think about WHY you want what you are trying to manifest and be sure to include it by enjoying your why.
  3. Now that you have a clear vision of your dream, you’ll need to collect all the images, words, poems, maps, or anything else you want to include on your vision board. Take what catches your attention. These images and words will symbolize your dreams and goals.
  4. Create your vision/map board. Most people use poster board to stick everything down, but you can also use a cork board, which is especially good for quickly changing targets. Dream big and don’t edit your dreams with critical thinking. Have fun and enjoy the process.
  5. Examine and explore what you have created. You might even want to journal about the images you’ve chosen for your whiteboard. They will usually have multiple layers of meaning, and you may find that they represent much more than you originally thought. Notice where you have them placed on your board and how prominent they seem to be.
  6. Your next step is to develop written goals, your roadmap for how your dreams will come true. These are your action steps to move toward your vision. If you don’t know the exact path, start with the first small step that you feel will take you in the right direction. These will often have to be revised or added to as you go. Having a time frame on your goals is helpful.
  7. Reinforce sleep. Look at your vision board every day and read your goals every day. Feel like you’re really living that life! If you can hire a trainer or join a Master Mind group, it can help you propel yourself towards your Vision with much greater speed and ease!
