Wrestling, as a sport that involves two players engaging in unarmed physical combat, makes use of physical techniques such as grabbing, blocking, leveraging, and holding. Its basic principles are closely related to hand-to-hand combat or military self-defense. Different types of fighters include aerialists, wrestlers, power fighters, technical fighters, and traditional players from the United States.

The aerial ones are those that deviate frequently when making their best offensive movements. Their movements are considered high risk for hurting their opponent or for knocking them down on the mat, and can be abusive to the body, as they need to withstand the impact of falls most of the time.

Fighters are those whose movements mainly consist of hitting, biting, scratching, kicking, or anything else. They don’t have a defense and instead subdue their body like a weapon, and their fights tend to end quickly.

Power fighters are usually bigger guys who weigh over 250 pounds and use their size and brute strength to hit their opponents with their high impact blows. They can deliver blows with such devastating force that they can turn the game into advantage even with a single blow.

Technical fighters, sometimes referred to as “scientific” fighters, make many grabs and execute movements with rapid precision, making them adept at defense and counterattack movements. They are generally considered boring due to the focus on defense.

Traditional US wrestlers usually use a combination of the first four styles and do a lot of movement around the ring. At least they take advantage of the advantages of each style and limit the disadvantages.
