Originally, trundle bed frames were not much more than a mattress in a drawer, stored under a bed. Now they’re stylish, easy to use, and fold-out so your guests don’t have to feel like they’re sleeping on the floor.
However, before you go and buy, there are several areas that you should consider.

If you are going to buy a nest, don’t bother looking at anything other than the pop-up nest. It’s obviously much more expensive than the original design, but the other option isn’t much better than a mattress on the floor.
How easy is it to raise your nest?
A well-designed pop-up trundle bed frame should be easy to lift and lock. Obviously the frames are metal and are a bit heavy, but that’s no excuse for making them uncomfortable and squishing and taking your fingers off! Before you buy any pop up rolling frame, go through the reviews and make sure that people are happy with the mechanism used.
Can you create a comfortable king?
One of the main advantages of a pop up trundle is the ability to raise the trundle to the height of a standard bed and be able to push them together to create a king size bed for your guests. This should be a simple and straightforward process. It is important to check that your nest came with the correct latches to join the two. Otherwise, your guests may have an ever-widening space in the middle of their bed.
The nest mattress
When your trundle bed is not in use, the pop-up window is lowered and the now concerted mattress and frame fit under your standard bed. This is usually quite tight and you will need to buy the mattress recommended by the manufacturer. If you are going to use this frame combination as a king size bed, then it is important to get the same mattress on both the standard bed and the trundle bed. Many people like to upgrade their main mattress to a higher quality. Before you do this though, make sure you can get the same upgraded mattress for your trundle and it will still fit properly under the bed. Getting this wrong can lead to a poor night’s sleep for your guests or it could mean your trundle mattress gets damaged and ruined as it constantly gets squashed on an inadequate trundle frame.
Everything in the trundle bed frame is a great investment, but you should be aware of a few simple things that can become problems if not addressed prior to purchase.
