faith removes obstacles

I always try to use my car as a “college”. I have to drive about 25 minutes to work every day, so why not use the time to get better? I have several audiobooks that I enjoy. I’m not talking about Stephen King novels or anything like that. I’m talking about audiobooks that will improve me in some way.

While listening to “Think and Grow Rich” I heard the narrator say something that totally shook me; Faith removes limitations. In biblical terms… with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Now, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). And finally, the popular mantra, believe it and get it.

The statement “faith removes limitations” made a lot of sense to me.

Matthew 21:21-22 (New International Version)

21Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you be able to do what was done with the fig tree, but you will also be able to say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22If you believe, you will receive everything you ask for in prayer”.

Of course, the fig tree and the mountain are just metaphors for whatever is limiting you in your life. I think the mistake most of us make in our lives is to confuse faith with desire.

I think sometimes we look at our limitations and put them on God. We look up to our “mountains” and think that it is impossible to achieve but nothing is too difficult for God and that is where we limit ourselves. You must have unwavering faith when you pray.

Matthew 19:26 (New International Version)

26Jesus looked at them and said, “For man this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”

You must absolutely believe in whatever you pray for. You may say, “Why would God answer my prayer?” Why wouldn’t God answer your prayer?

You want to give gifts to your children, friends or loved ones, right? God loves us more than we have the capacity to love ourselves or others, so you know He wants to give you gifts, but you have to believe that.

Also, it’s okay to ask for something for yourself. I hear so many people pray and then add, if it is God’s will. That is an immediate resignation in your faith and then of course a limitation.

Let’s talk specifically about fitness for now. If you’re hoping to lose 30 pounds, eat healthier, or even have more energy and time to exercise, why wouldn’t God answer that prayer? Your body is the Temple of God. He dwells in you. Wouldn’t it make sense that it was his will that you have a healthy body? However, do you think that helping you with self-discipline is too difficult for God? You may have limitations, but God doesn’t and… faith removes limitations.

The next time you sit down with a plan or a goal, have faith. If you can’t believe in yourself, believe in God to help you grow and make changes so you can achieve your goals. State your goals daily and say it in the present tense; like it was already done. Be persistent and never, ever give up because… faith removes limitations… faith removes obstacles.
