India is a country of great sages. Once in a while somewhere in India, let it be a very small town, great sages used to be born. Although these sages are not attaching importance to miracles, they will perform hundreds of miracles. But they do not attach importance to them, but used to advise everyone to worship the Lord.

One of those great saints was born in Maharashtra and is now known as Shirdi Sai Baba.

Sai Baba is believed to have been born in 1835. At the age of 16, he arrived in Shirdi, Ahmednagar district of British India. He attained Maha Samadhi on a Vijaya Dasami day on October 15, 1918.

BV Narasimhaswami has written a book entitled “Letters and Sayings of Sri Sai Baba” in 1944. This book narrates 608 incidents and sayings of Baba. From Narsimhaswami’s authentic version, we can read hundreds of Baba’s miracles.

He was a great devotee of Sai Baba. He has collected data about Baba and has written the biography of him.

Hundreds of miracles are very accurately described in this book.

Sai Baba is well known for his direct comments. He is a knower of everything. He knows everyone and knows the devotees from previous births.

In 1913 Professor Narke returned from Manchester. He visited Baba. He was introduced to Him by someone. Immediately, Baba commented, “You introduce him to me! I have known him for 30 generations.”

The person who returned from England was shocked. He was in need of a job. He got an offer from Benaras and at the same time he got one more offer from Burma. Narke went to see Baba and asked him where to go.

Baba immediately replied, “Go to Burma and Poona.” He went to Burma. There was an announcement that a professor of geology was wanted for the Poona College of Engineering. He got that job in 1918. But he was predicted in 1913.

Baba can foresee events before they happen! Hundreds of devotees experienced Baba’s many miracles.

Once in 1886, Baba told his devotee Mahalsapathy that he was going to Allah and would return in three days. If he didn’t come back, he can bury the body in the nearby open field. Consequently, Baba’s breathing, pulse and circulation stopped and the body became a corpse. The town officials wanted to bury the body. But Mahalsapathy refused. On the third day, consciousness returned to Baba. He started to breathe and opened his eyes. Life was restored.

Baba had and has Hindu and Muslim devotees. Thousands beyond Shirdi to worship him even today.

He advised the devotees to worship wholeheartedly and wait patiently for the results. This has been well taken by the devotees of him. His famous statement is: Why fear when I am here!
