Who says dating is only for teens and teens? In the world we live in, many people in their 30s and 40s are trying to find a partner and a soul mate. Of course, the whole ballgame changes when you reach a certain age because most people in their 40s will be in the dating zone for serious, mature reasons. More often than not, the senior group will be looking to settle down, find a life partner, and get serious about the whole dating scene! What might be right for a 20-year-old girl is going to be very different for a 40-year-old woman. Here are some tips for the older, more mature age group:

• There is nothing shy or awkward about this age and dating! Many people are doing it. So be confident and assertive.

• Reflect on what you want from the woman/man you are going out with. This is probably not the time to flirt and waste time! It will be a great thing if you can gather her thoughts and expectations and then find the right fit.

• Examine yourself and introspect a lot. This will give you perspective on who you are, what you are like, and how the date should view you. It is important to feel comfortable in your own skin and to know yourself fairly well.

• Be realistic: At age 50, you may not want to run after 20-year-old graduates! Remember, you are in the dating world for a futuristic purpose and not for frivolous reasons.

• Think and take maximum care when you go out with your date. After all, physical attractiveness is important, no matter how old or how young you are. This also shows respect on your part.

• Most people in the older dating pool want things to be quick and fast. Please slow down. You may not strike gold on the first date, so be patient and persevere. You need to invest quality time and effort into each appointment.

• Don’t commit just because you think it’s “late in life” and you’ll have to make do with whoever you like!

Love, fate and friendship do not change with age. You never know who you’ll meet on your next date, just be safe, positive, and respectful!
