Now, what is culture? Culture is the summum bonum of the ideas, language, customs, beliefs, values and technology inherited from society.

In this article I would like to list certain facets of culture and explain them with the synthesis of new ideas.

I would like to see culture from (a) Pedogenesis, (b) Sedimentation, (c) Exfoliation, (d) Afforestation.

What is it from the point of view of pedogenesis? By Paedogenesis, it is a transfiguration by which institutions appropriate values and belief systems in everyday life. Some elements of Paedogenesis can be explained with examples. For example: Democracy becomes an integral part of the world’s value systems and incorporates a value ethic of electing a government. It is of the people, by the people and for the people. Another example would be Gandhi’s peaceful non-violent struggle to overthrow the British regime in India. Another example would be the sit-ins or the peaceful struggle of the beatniks to oppose the Vietnam War. Another example is the universalization of Jazz in the world music culture.

Now, how is sedimentation related to culture? Sedimentation is the appropriation of language in culture and the globalization of peace. Language is an institution that is engendered by societies to promote the art of communication. Now, let’s look at the English language. English has acculturated in a global society as a means of international communication. English as a language broke free from its colonial roots and developed many species and genres that made it an embodiment of global communication. English has generated a sedimentation of the creation of a global language for both East and West.

Now what is exfoliation when it comes to culture? Exfoliation is a genetic device that creates ideas about philosophy and art. Let’s look at Nietzsche’s theory of art. The philosopher Nietzsche has said that art is the synthesis of the Dionysian and the Apollonian. The Dionysian element is beat and rhythm and the Apollonian elements are harmony and melody. Nietzsche’s theory of art occupies a subliminal space in the rhetoric of culture. Now let’s see another example: here we have the thesis, the antithesis and the synthesis of the philosopher Hegel. The harsh Treaty of Versailles imposed on Germany is the thesis and the coming to power of the dictator Hitler is the antithesis and the holocaust of the Jews is the synthesis. Now let’s look at another theory called Binary Fusion. Binary Fusion is a postmodern philosophy developed by me and is an embodiment of textuality that does not marginalize or privilege anyone. For example, let’s take a look at rap music. Rap music developed out of black culture is a text that has become universal, and it is a text that lives up to Binary Fusion’s credentials. In Indian philosophy we have the saying: the world is one family and it is another creed of binary fusion.

Now, what is afforestation and its relationship with culture? Afforestation is the absorption and inculcation of the elements of technology. Now the world has become a global technotronic society. The new ways of communication prevail in the mode of communication. Speed has reduced distance and transformed the world into a global village. Technology has become the fetish of consumer desire. Goggling has become the fashion of the day. The cell phone, the internet and the web have become the dialogues in which society transacts and interacts.

To summarize I would like to say that the elements of culture are pedogenesis, sedimentation, exfoliation and afforestation.
