The latest and greatest news from Miley Cyrus is that the “Best of Both Worlds Tour” kicked off on October 18 with a packed house. All 54 tour dates are sold out and getting tickets is impossible without going to her friendly neighborhood ticket scalper. An acknowledgment of Miley’s popularity is that some arenas sold out in less than 15 minutes.

On October 5, Miley celebrated her 16th birthday (yes, we know she won’t be 16 until November) at Disneyland. Disneyland closed its doors for the day and Miley celebrated with 2,500 fans and friends. Some of her friends had paid $250.00 to join her in celebrating her birthday. The celebration featured fireworks, sixteen giant inflatable candles, and Miley performing a 4-song set to a captivated audience.

Miley, contrary to all the rumors that are circulating, has committed to at least one more season, the fourth with Hannah Montana. This commitment has squashed rumors that the star would leave after this season. The third season of Hannah Montana is in production right now and the Hannah Montana movie will be released in April 2009.

Miley and Disney are making plans for her to star in a feature film written by Nicholas Sparks. This film will not be Hannah Montana, but will instead continue Miley’s transition from a ‘tween star’ to one that will appeal to more teens and young adults.

Miley’s latest and greatest album, “Breakout,” spent 12 weeks in the Billboard top 100. This album in which the songs were written by Miley seems to be the beginning of the group’s transition from ‘tweens’. “Breakout” was the number one album at one point, but has since dropped to number 35 on the Billboard charts.

Miley will be keeping herself busy in the coming months with her latest and greatest concert tour, filming Hannah Montana, and preparing for a new movie.
