AdSense features numerous ads from different merchants and doesn’t require you to put as much effort into developing the banner ads.

Banner ads are automatically generated based on the type of activities that occur on the website.

The ultimate goal of AdSense is to get the most clicks on the advertising materials that appear on the website because this will be the basis of your commission.

The challenge now for AdSense users is how to make sure that their website visitors click on the ads.

  1. Select your ads carefully. AdSense features multiple ad sizes to choose from, but not all of them will be effective in enticing the visitor to click on the ad. The most productive ad types are 160 x 600 (wide skyscraper), 300 x 250 (medium rectangle), and 336 x 280 (large rectangle).

  2. In the same way, ad placement is also vital to the performance of your campaign. Positioning them in the spaces where visitors should automatically look increases the likelihood that they will click on the ad. For example, the human eye will always start reading from the left side, so one of the recommended ad positions is at the top left of the page. The best possible placements are in the sidebar, just below the content above the comment box, at the top of the content below the title, and at the top left of the page.Mix and match the types of ads that appear on your site.   3. What this does is allow text-based ads and display ads to toggle their appearance in the same ad position so that you have a number of different ads that the user can click on.

  4. Monitor your stats in Google Analytics to see which pages/topics are generating the most clicks so you can determine which site visitors are most interested in seeing on your website.

  5. Less is more when it comes to banner ads despite the perception that it will increase the likelihood that visitors will click. At most, ads should be limited to 2-3 because more than that can interrupt your visitors’ attention and even keep them from coming back to your site.

Whether you choose AdSense or the affiliate marketing route, one thing is for sure: the internet has made making money a bit more doable for people.
